We will be visiting one of our private covenants called Ruby Creek to plant native species near the creek and remove invasive species with a multi-day workshop on riparian restoration with professional Dave Polster (Sept 29 - 30) and invasive plant removal volunteer day (Sept 28). Come on out to get your boots dirty and spend some time with interesting people broadening your natural knowledge horizons! 

This event is hosted in partnership with Volunteer Victoria and University of Victoria for Project Serve Day, as well as Greater Victoria Green Team, and CRD Parks. 

Workshop Costs:

Both Sept 29th class day and Sept 30th field day - $100

*Help out on first day of invasive plant removal (Thurs Sept 28th) for a $50 discount off two-day workshop price

**Add $7 for a HAT-provided lunch or pack your own. Lunch will be provided on Sept 28th volunteer day.

Optional Volunteer Day:

Sept 28th: Full day (10 am - 3:30 pm) invasive plant removal along planting area with introduction to the site and ongoing restoration there. Lunch provided. All volunteers welcome!

Multiday workshop schedule:

Sept 29th: Classroom-based workshop day at Municipal Council Chambers in Metchosin (4450 Happy Valley Rd)  (9 am - 5 pm) - Talk on riparian restoration with professional Dave Polster. Pack a lunch or pay $7 for HAT-provided lunch.

Sept 30th: Field-based workshop day (9am - 5pm) 9 am - 11:45 am field-based workshop talk with Dave Polster, 11:45 - 5 pm hands-on workshop portion: riparian planting for slope stabilization. 1 pm Lunch Break. Pack a lunch or pay $7 for HAT-provided lunch.
