Sat Jan 24: Oak Haven Park Restoration 1/2 day COMPLETE  - see photos

Daphne and broom removal before the spring flowers begin to bloom. Regular time: 10-2, coffee and snacks at 9:30am. Tools, gloves, and training provided. Bring a lunch and some energy! Carpooling available.

Sat Feb 21: Galiano Planting + Restoration Workshop Full Day ~9am to 6pm COMPLETE - photos coming soon

Join us for a trip to Galiano Island to help maintain the special ecology of Trincomali Sanctuary. After removing invasive broom for the past 3 years, Covenants Coordinator Wendy now needs help planting native species in the cleared areas. We will group at the ferry terminal in the morning - transportation on Galiano, tools, and training provided. Bring a lunch and water, carpooling definitely available to and from the ferry. Space is limited!

HAT is working on a restoration plan for Havenwood Park in partnership with the City of Colwood. We are removing the remaining invasive species, including daphne, broom and holly. The 14th will be dedicated to removal, and March 28th will be planting. Come to one or both of the days to gain restoration skills, and enjoy time with HAT volunteers! Regular time: 10-2, coffee and snacks at 9:30am. Tools, gloves, and training provided. Bring a lunch and some energy! Carpooling available.

March 18 Camosun Sustainability Day 10-2

Join us to Camosun College for Sustainability Day. 10am to 2pm talking to folks about restoration events, protecting lands, urban forest, and species at risk! Apr 14: Matson Conservation Area Clean-Up & Class Visit Day
8am to 10am clean up
10am to 2pm restoration
Esquimalt/Vic City Border, the shoreline and Garry Oak Meadow of HAT Property Matson Lands needs cleaning before we host 30 kids for an outdoor education day. Join the Wetland Restoration Project crew at Haliburton Farm (and amphibian specialists) for an evening of frog chorus listening and a potluck dessert! More info to come, check back soon.

May 3: HAT Native Plant Garden Tour
Interested in Native Plant species ID or backyard gardening? Volunteer with us on the native plant garden tour, represent HAT and provide materials as needed through outreach at some local backyard gardens in the city. June: SENINES (Senanus) Island Restoration Trip
This will be the 10th annual trip where a crew of HAT volunteers and staff join with Denis Coupland from Peninsua Streams, Tsartlip First Nation members, and high school students from ȽÁU, WELṈEW̱ Tribal School in the ḰENNES (Hagan/Graham Creek, pronounced qua-nis) watershed to restore the sacred island in Saanich Inlet. See photos from 2014. The date will be determined in May, usually falls on a weekday, water taxi from Brentwood Bay included. June: HAT Supporter Lunch Have you been to our annual HAT Lunch? It is a great opportunity to get an update of HAT programs, and enjoy a light lunch with staff and board. Due to the popularity of the lunch last year, we will be making some improvements in order to accommodate more supporters! More info to come.
