In 2010, HAT, Swan Lake, and biologists Kristiina Ovaska and Christian Engelstoft, will be studying the movements of Western Painted Turtles at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary. Undestanding how Western Painted Turtles use the landscape is vital to effectively protecting this endangered species. Understanding where Painted Turtles are nesting, hibernating, and how they use the landscape will lead to better mitigation measures to protect them.
This page will host a map that will update the turtle's movements as they are tracked.
